Miss Duncan-Lyman-Wellford Pageant - What We're All About The Miss Duncan-Lyman-Wellford Scholarship Program is an official local preliminary competition to Miss South Carolina. As part of The Miss America Organization, The Miss South Carolina Pageant is the largest provider of scholarships for young women within this organization. They provide over 10 Million Dollars given annually throughout the state, to help support these young women with their educational goals. Not only do these young women recieve scholarships to continue their education, but they are the largest producers of volunteer hours, over 600,000, that are committed to the local and state programs that need their support. Each year, these young women give back to the communities, improving the lives of those that have supported them. These are time honored projects that show it takes much more than beauty to hold the crown given to them. It takes hard work and compassion. It is our goal to provide the Duncan, Lyman and Wellford communities with a Miss and Teen ambassador to represent us, not only in the state pageant but throughout the year in our towns. Meet the Committee

Co-Executive DirectorKevin E. McCall Kevin has been involved in the world of pageantry for the past 16 years. He has served as director, producer, coach, judge and entertainer. His work with the Miss South Carolina Organization began with this very local back in 1991, during his high school years. He served on the Miss Duncan-Lyman-Wellford Committee for several years and was executive director in 1999 and 2000. From there, Kevin worked on the committee of the Miss Travelers Rest/Upstate Pageant. He is very excited to be returning "home" and serving as the local director in his hometown once again! No stranger to the stage, he has extensive training in voice and has been recognized with numerous vocal awards. He has also had training in theatre, dance and piano. While in school he was chosen to sing with the South Carolina Honors All-State Choir, South Carolina Governor's Choir, Spartanburg All-County Honor's Choir & he studied voice at the Governor's School. He is a 1992 graduate of James F. Byrnes High School and a 1996 graduate of North Greenville University where he studied voice and musical theatre. He currently resides in his hometown of Duncan and is employed with Liberty Life Insurance Customer Service Center.

Jared J. Hembree

Jared has been involved with the Miss South Carolina Organization for the past 2 years. He became involved in pageants while in high school and enjoyed working with the Miss Byrnes High School and Class Beauty Pageants. A 2006 graduate of James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, he was a member of the Teacher Cadet's and Leadership Greer. As a result, he is proud to have completed over 300 community service hours.

Currently, he is a student at USC Upstate where he is pursuing a degree in early childhood education. Upon completion of his degree, he plans to become a teacher in Spartanburg County, District 5. He resides in Duncan, SC and is employed with the childrens program of the Spartanburg County YMCA.
